The American rapper and singer-songwriter Trippie Redd started his career as a Soundcloud rapper. It’s a microgenre of hip hop that originated on the online audio distribution platform Soundcloud in the 2010s. Keep in mind that “Soundcloud rapper” or “mumble rap” is a loosely defined genre. Basically, it’s just rappers who post the same style of music on the said platform.
Since then, Trippie Redd has grown into an internationally acclaimed rap artist with almost 19 million monthly listeners on Spotify. His hit song “Love Scars” propelled him into the spotlight. Other singles such as “Dark Knight Dummo,” “Taking a Walk,” and “Topanga” all reached the Billboard Hot 100.
He has collaborated with some of the biggest names in rap history, Future, Lil Baby, Juice WRLD, Travis Scott, Lil Durk, Ski Mask the Slump God, DaBaby, and Kodak Black. The biggest song he has ever released was “FUCK LOVE,” which was featured on the late XXXTentacion’s album in 2017. It has received a Diamond rating for the RIAA for moving over 10 million copies.
Now Trippie Redd is back and stronger than ever as he announces his upcoming tour, Take Me Away.
